About the Role
As a Junior Embedded Software & Cybersecurity Engineer, you will contribute to the development of secure embedded systems for railway fire detection and protection applications in safety-critical environments.
You will work closely with a senior embedded engineer with extensive experience in railway systems, TCMS communication, and cybersecurity, gaining strong hands-on exposure and structured technical mentorship.
The role combines embedded software development with cybersecurity engineering, focusing on:
Embedded cybersecurity implementation on Renesas microcontrollers with ThreadX RTOS, aligned with IEC/EN 62443-4-2
Secure railway system integration, including onboard TCMS communication using TRDP and related protocols
You will collaborate with R&D, systems, validation, and cybersecurity teams across the full product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Support implementation of cybersecurity functions in embedded RTOS-based systems
Assist in secure communication, authentication, and system integrity mechanisms
Contribute to software testing, debugging, and verification activities
Help implement cybersecurity requirements aligned with IEC/EN 62443-4-2
Support documentation, configuration management, and technical reporting
Participate in system integration, troubleshooting, and lab testing
Analyze communication protocols and onboard network architectures
Requirements
Education
Degree in Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
Technical Skills
Basic C programming for embedded systems
Understanding of microcontrollers and embedded architectures
Fundamentals of RTOS, TCP/IP, and embedded communication protocols
Interest in cybersecurity principles (authentication, secure communication, integrity, secure development)
Soft Skills
Analytical and structured problem-solving mindset
Clear communication and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
Strong motivation to learn and develop technical expertise
Nice to Have
Exposure to ThreadX or other RTOS environments
Familiarity with industrial or railway communication systems
Awareness of IEC/EN 62443 or similar cybersecurity standards
Experience with Git/SVN
Basic use of debugging tools (oscilloscope, protocol analyzers, etc.)
Interest in safety-critical or railway systems
